The vision of ReliefCorps is to give aid to those affected by the recent natural disasters in Central Oklahoma, which include the Shawnee, Carney, Little Axe, and Moore areas. ReliefCorps is a Southern Region program sponsored by Section SR-8 in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Members of Ma-Nu Lodge are encouraged to participate. The program has two components: a service project and a fundraiser.
To commemorate our recovery efforts, a special gold mylar bordered patch is being designed and can be obtained by participating in a organized service project. The only requirement for the service project is that the project must benefit the community and not BSA or any council. Any OA member who participates in a service project and contributes 5 or more hours of service or donates $20.00 or more of materials will receive the special patch. At the conclusion of the service project, you should complete the ReliefCorps Report and submit it electronically. After the ReliefCorps Report is received, the patches will be sent to your Chapter Adviser for distribution.
Additionally, a silver mylar bordered patch may be purchased for $10.00 and the proceeds from these sales will be given to the American Red Cross. There is no service requirement to purchase the fundraiser patch. Pre-orders for the fundraiser patch will end on Sunday, June 30th. You can pre-order your patches through OAPatches.com. Please help reach out to the victims of these natural disasters by participating in this program and remember that "he who serves his fellows is of all his fellows, greatest".
Fall Ordeal will be held at John Nichols Scout Ranch the weekend of August 23 - 25, 2013. Over 300 Ma-Nu Lodge Arrowmen and Candidates will participate at this year's Fall Ordeal. Don't miss it!! There will also be an opportunity to seal your membership and become a Brotherhood Member. Nominations for Vigil Honor Candidates are due to the Vigil Selection Committee by Sunday, August 31, 2013 (Any exception must be approved by the Vigil Chief).
The Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities of their position or office to one or more of the following: their lodge, the Order of the Arrow, Scouting, or their council scout camp. Under no circumstances should tenure in Scouting or the Order of the Arrow be considered as reason enough for a Vigil Honor recommendation.
