Summer programs offer your Cub and Webelos Scouts an outstanding opportunity for advancement while they have fun and make new friends. We encourage you and your Pack to make reservations to attend Cub Resident Camp at Camp George Thomas in 2011. Space exploration is the theme for the summer, and we have some great programs for both Cub Scouts and Webelos. We are fortunate to have excellent camping facilities and among the best program opportunities available for our Cub Scouts and Leaders.
The definition of the tour plan in the Language of Scouting is: “Units complete this form when planning for local, national, or international adventure. The plan helps ensure the unit is properly prepared, that qualified and trained leadership is in place, and that the right equipment is available for the adventure.” Tour plans must be submitted to Program Services at the Last Frontier Council office.

It is that time of year again. Time to start thinking about your popcorn sale and who is going to be your Unit Kernel. We have Popcorn Conferences to start you planning going on in April and May. You can attend whichever conference you would like, but we try and spread them around the Council to make it a little easier to get to one of them. They are worth an extra 1% commission to attend so start making plans now.
Spring Ordeal is scheduled for the weekend of May 20–22, 2011 at Slippery Falls Scout Ranch. Each member should make it their own responsibility to make sure each candidate elected from their Troop is registered to attend and has transportation. If they can’t join in the spring, their last opportunity to become a member of the order will be at Fall Ordeal. Spring Ordeal also provides a great opportunity for Ordeal members to seal their membership and become a Brotherhood member.

The Last Frontier Council Jamboree committee, led by Sean O’Connell, is planning to take four contingent troops of Boy Scouts and two contingent crews of Venturers to the National Jamboree in 2013.
The website for The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve and the 2013 jamboree will is live, and a launch is scheduled with new functionality and formal releases throughout the next two years. Some of this functionality comes in the form of surveys and interactions with Scouts, volunteers, and families about their interests in The Summit and the 2013 jamboree itself. One part is entitled “Shape the Summit,” enabling all to help shape how The Summit will look. Another part will ask for general interests concerning the 2013 jamboree. Ultimately, more useful information will be fed back to you, both from national and local perspectives.
