Chickasaw Village Dedication at Slippery Falls

On Thursday, June 30th the Chickasaw Village was dedicated at Slippery Falls. The new program area brings additional facilities as well as the culture and heritage of the Chickasaw people to our summer camp. Special thanks to Governor Bill Anoatubby for his help in securing the capital gift that made this new area possible. Click the link for picture for more info.

Sign Up For Popcorn Now

Now is the time to sign-up for this year's Popcorn Sale!!!  In order to get your unit put into the system we need for you to fill out a Unit Commitment Card telling us who your Unit Kernel is along with their contact information. Click the link above for all the popcorn info for this year's sale. 

Help Us Find Eagles for the Gathering of Eagles

Are you an Eagle Scout? Do you know someone who's an Eagle Scout? Click the link above for more information about the Gathering of Eagles. It is an event in August to help reconnect Eagle Scouts back with our program. Help us promote the event to your Troop and friends. There is a discount for Eagles 35 and younger, and last year's class of Eagle Scouts attends free!

University of Scouting

BALOO Training

Is your Cub Scout Pack planning a camping event?  If so, you need a  BALOO trained adult to lead the pack overnighter.  The next course is Saturday, August 6, 2011.   Reservation deadline is August 3 and course size is limited.  Sign up NOW on the council website under TRAINING. NYLT - National Youth Leadership Training

NYLT is an advanced Training Course for youth. It can help develop your youth from good leaders into great leaders. Click the link above to go to the registration page, and the image to the right for the flyer.  

 

Trainers Edge

August 6 will be the next Trainers Edge course. This is for all adult and youth interested in helping with training scout leaders and youth. This conference will give you the tools to present an effective and exciting training event. Click the link above for the event info.

Council Coordinated Meeting

The council committees will meet on Thursday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Gaylord Scout Center in Oklahoma City.  The following committees will meet: Training, Camping, Activities & Civic Service, Advancement & Recognition, Health & Safety, Venturing Officers Association, International Scouting, and Commissioners.  All council and district volunteers who serve on these committees are invited to attend. 

   

Scouting and Fitness

Jeff Woolsey, Scout Executive/CEO has signed up to be a part of a special test group for a National Initiative on Scouting and physical fitness. More information will be coming out about this initiative from both the National Council as well as the Last Frontier Council in the coming months. Summer Camp as an Individual 

Slippery Falls Scout Ranch offers a program for individual Boy Scouts to attend summer camp without their troop.  Called the Maverick program, this is an opportunity for boys who want a summer camp experience but are not able to attend camp with their troop or who would like an additional week at summer camp.  Maverick camper slots are available July 10-16.  Please contact the Scout Center for more details or register online at www.slipperyfalls.com.

Weekend Camping at Diamond H Scout Ranch

Boy Scout Troops and Venturing Crews are welcome to camp at Diamond H Scout Ranch throughout the year.  The camp offers over 6,000 acres of forested hills for hiking, backpacking, wilderness survival, orienteering, and other outdoor pursuits. There are 11 themed geocaches on the property.  Units may camp anywhere on the property, or may rent the Central Lodge for $50.  Central Lodge is equipped with a dining hall, kitchen, office, bathrooms, showers, and several bunk-rooms. Fall Family Camping Dates

Campers and Staff are invited to many Family Camping events this fall at Camp George Thomas and John Nichols Scout Ranch.  The programs are designed for Cub Scouts and their families, and Boy Scouts and Venturers are encouraged to serve on staff.  These events are fun and simple overnight campouts for everyone throughout the council.
