WOW IT'S BIG!!

Slippery Falls Scout Ranch has a new climbing tower. With the top platform over 55 feet over the ground, the new tower is over 60 percent taller than the old tower.  At the shaded summit, climbers can see for miles over the trees with a beautiful view of Lake Payne.

Cub Scout Day Camp

There is still time to sign up for Day Camp! To find out which weeks still have slots available District’s Camp or Program Director by clicking the link above. Note - a boy can attend any Day Camp, regardless of where you live. If your vacation schedule conflicts with your Cub Pack's Day Camp - contact your District Executive and they can help you find another Day Camp to attend and get you hooked up with another Den. What a fun way for Scouts to make new friends!

Cub Scout Resident Camp

Summer programs offer your Cub and Webelos Scouts an outstanding opportunity for advancement while they have fun and make new friends.  We encourage you and your Pack to make reservations to attend Cub Resident Camp at Camp George Thomas in 2011.  Space exploration is the theme for the summer, and we have some great programs for both Cub Scouts and Webelos.  We are fortunate to have excellent camping facilities and among the best program opportunities available for our Cub Scouts and Leaders.

Scouting and Fitness

Jeff Woolsey, Scout Executive/CEO has signed up to be a part of a special test group for a National Initiative on Scouting and physical fitness. More information will be coming out about this initiative from both the National Council as well as the Last Frontier Council in the coming months. In the mean-time click here or the image to the right to look at Jeff's blog site about his experiences in trying to be healthier! His first blog post will be published next Tuesday, June 7 and for the seven weeks following.

There are open weeks for high adventure treks at Diamond H Scout Ranch June 19-25, June 26-July 2, and July 17-23.  Any Crews or Troops interested in attending this 50-mile voyage should contact Ryan Lemons at ryan.lemons@scouting.org or 405-858-4635.  The fee is $260 per person.  Treks are customizable and may include canoeing, mountain biking, backpacking, first aid training, GPS, orienteering, and outdoor cooking.

Order of the Arrow - Makeup Ordeal

The last Ordeal for 2011 will be held at John Nichols on August 26th thru 28th. If you are a candidate, please plan on attending. If you do not complete your Ordeal for the year you were elected, you must be re-elected by your Troop. If you are a member, we still need you at Ordeal. You can support your Troop's candidates, provide transportation for candidates, work on member projects or serve as an Elangomat. Elangomats attend Ordeal for free.

Brotherhood Membership

If you have been an Ordeal member for at least 10 months, you are eligible to seal your Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow. The next opportunity to do that will be at the Ordeal at John Nichols on August 26th thru 28th. There will be a Brotherhood Enrichment session on Saturday afternoon with a Brotherhood Hike and ceremony on Saturday night. Brotherhood conversion is the one item that has prevented our Lodge from achieving Quality Lodge. Please consider sealing your Brotherhood. While you are at it, come participate at Ordeal as an Elangomat or on a member project. Your Lodge and John Nichols needs you. For more information on Brotherhood, click here.

Promote Your Scouting Program at Bass Pro Shops

June is Scouting month at Bass Pro Shops. Your Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop or Venture Crew can have a table at the store promoting Scouting and soliciting new members. There are also fun merit badge opportunities for boys. Click the link above or the picture for more info.
