National Eagle Scout Association ScholarshipsNESA's annual scholarship applications are now available. The deadline for all applications is January 31, 2012. Awards available range in value from $1,000 to $50,000. Click here for additional information and applications. JOTA station WB5BSA successfully made contact with Scouter and astronaut Mike Fossum up on the International Space Station this weekend! We did it with a barbed-wire beam pioneering project antenna and a 5-watt radio. Click here for additional information. The Last Frontier Council is now accepting applications for the positions of Scoutmasters and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Assistant Scoutmasters for 4 contingent troops and for Venturing Advisors and Associate Advisors for 2 Venturing Crews to attend the 2013 National Boy Scouts of America Jamboree. The LFC is looking for 12 Scout Leaders and up to 4 Venturing leaders in total. Application deadline is November 21, 2011 and interviews for the leader positions will be held on December 3, 2011. You will be contacted after November 21 with your interview time. The interviews will take place at the main LFC Scout offices aka the Gaylord Scout Service Center, 3031 NW 64th Street, Oklahoma City, OK. For driving directions, click here. If you do not believe that you are interested or qualified, but do know of one or more other adults that you feel are, please pass this email on to them and encourage them to apply. This is the opportunity of a lifetime!! We are looking for the best leaders in the Council; Leaders that are motivated and excited about this great opportunity. The estimated fee for the 2013 Jambo is $1,500 for participants or leaders.

Ty Knots, the "mascot" for 2011 has had a great year, but Ty is being replaced. The theme for the upcoming year is going to be "The Power of Fun." To go along with that theme there is a new mascot, the "Bolt of Fun." Popcorn - Order Prizes For Your Sellers!
The sale may be over but if you are a prize unit, then there are still prizes to be ordered. You need to go to www.boyscouts-gcc.com to place your prize orders. The deadline is Nov. 28th for all paperwork (including your Unit Master Record) and all prizes to be ordered. If you are a cash unit wanting to have patches then you also need to order them by Nov. 28th.The instructions on how to place the order are in your Unit Kernel Guidebook on page 21. Remember, Dec. 5th is the deadline, you can pay at any time prior to that date. February 17-19, 2012, is shooting sports weekend at Diamond H Scout Ranch. All Boy Scouts and Venturers are invited to camp out for the weekend and enjoy shooting a variety of rifles, shotguns, muzzle-loaders, and other specialty firearms. Venturers will be able to shoot pistols. Detailed information will soon be available at www.diamondhscoutranch.org.
