The Boathouse District is bringing more olympic-inspired fitness to OKC! On the heels of the 2012 Games in London, the Boathouse District is an exciting place to be. Hundreds of youth and adults from all walks of life are converging at the Oklahoma River each week, freshly inspired by the accomplishments of OKC’s 2012 Olympic and Paralympic rowers, and by the work of Team USA that placed America at the top of the medal count. The Olympic Spirit is alive and growing in our community. And when it comes to the sports at the Boathouse District, everyone can get involved.
People of all ages and all levels of ability are discovering the life-changing potential at the Oklahoma River. Corporate rowers tell us the sport brings co-workers together in ways that build new friendships. Dragon boaters learn about teamwork. New rowers and kayakers are amazed at how their new-found skills alter their lives – some with a sense of empowerment, others enjoying the serenity and balance of the sports.
